Easy Ways To Get Started With Professional Modeling

Cam models are used to the “you’re so pretty, you could be a model!” comments while live streaming, but very few consider it realistic. As an entertainer, most cam models are more than qualified to get into modeling. There are so many different types of modeling that can be done! Glamour, boudoir, erotic, artistic nude, bodyscape, etc. So how do you make your “you could be a model” compliment into a reality?

How To Become An Instagram Model

The easiest way to enter modeling is through social media. “Instagram models” are a very common occurrence in the cam community, usually someone with a mass following will become endorsed by clothing or accessory companies and take photos in their clothing (usually sent to them for free). Those models are featured on the company’s Instagram, and tagged to gain exposure.

This is pretty easy to achieve if you already have a relatively large following Start following clothing companies that interest you and make sure your Instagram features some good quality shots (not just mirror selfies) of you that could be envisioned with the product in mind. Many companies will actually hold “Brand Promoter” contests. Some involve reposting an image the company comes up with and gaining likes on it, or submitting pictures, or tagging them in your posts. A quick search in the tags on Instagram of “#brandpromoter” led me to a contest going on now within the first few rows of photos.

Get Started On Model Mayhem

Another way to get into modeling is joining Model Mayhem. They are NOT sex worker friendly, do not put anything having to do with camming in your profile if you’d like to work with them. They are a more “upscale” modeling network that allows models to connect with photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists, etc.

There are many features on Model Mayhem including VIP accounts which will give you a boost in place on the site and connect you with more photographers. I use Model Mayhem, have VIP and when I use it regularly I get about 2 TF shoots (Trade For: a shoot free for both parties, both parties get equal image copyright) and one paid shoot a week. Being only $10 a month, the cost pretty much gets covered if you are consistent and willing to actually meet with people to shoot.

Be careful on Model Mayhem, as anyone can make an account. Just because someone is listed as a photographer doesn’t mean they have any experience or that they aren’t creepy. You can ask if escorts are okay, and bring a friend. Always check their profiles, which will usually have a list of references that they’ve worked with. Check out their references and make sure they’re legitimate, in which case an escort probably isn’t necessary.

Some photographers don’t like escorts coming along, so if you are new to it and they don’t have the qualifications which make you feel comfortable, don’t do it! It’s better to be safe than sorry. The set up on Model Mayhem is very user friendly, and basic to maneuver. There is messaging, portfolio, and profile which are the main parts you will be using. You can do searches to find photographers yourself, but odds are you will already be receiving plenty of messages if you have a decent looking portfolio. Make sure you put in your biography what kind of shoots you are comfortable with doing, or you will get spammed with various offers for stuff you might not be interested in.

Finding Modeling Gis On Craigslist (But Be Careful)

Craigslist is also a way to go, it’s where I found my first modeling gig. It isn’t the safest way to go, and I really lucked out meeting my photographer who then suggested I join Model Mayhem. (My photographer is EG Image Photography if you’re in the South Carolina area, he’s awesome!).

If you are going to use Craigslist, browse the local gig section. Make sure the person you’re meeting up with has a professional looking portfolio or website, and definitely bring an escort!

Submitting A Portfolio To Modeling Companies

If you already have some professional looking shots of yourself, and you’re looking for bigger modeling opportunities, you can submit your portfolio online to many popular modeling companies. A quick google search of “Model Portfolio Submission” returned a few sites to submit your work to, so you can connect with bigger brands and industries. Starting out small and bulking your portfolio will help if you decide to go with this option.
