Meet Clapper: the video app that doesn’t shadowban pornstars
Clapper is a short video phone application much like TikTok or Triller that is designed for users to upload and create short video content by utilizing sounds on the app or using their own audio, these videos are then matched with viewers who might be interested based on an algorithm and can get likes and comments. Video apps have seen a huge boost in usage since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic and have become a perfect match for performers that are looking to promote their services and get matched with viewers that are looking for content of that nature. Unfortunately, TikTok has started to lose its luster and has started to heavily monitor and flag adult performers, including adding that promoting sex work is prohibited in their guidelines. Once TikTok started to very openly ban, remove, and de-platform sex workers it’s new rival Clapper stepped in to give creators a place to “Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Valued.”
Part of Clappers promise included giving adult performers a place to promote themselves as long as the content they post on the app is not pornographic/explicit. Clapper also allows many more outgoing links from your profile than TikTok, allowing you to link your Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, and OnlyFans right on your profile. Clapper also holds “town hall” meetings within the app to connect with their users which is an added benefit to the app. Outside of these totally amazing differences, Clapper is basically the “light version” of TikTok. Although it has a different color scheme, just about every other feature is the same on the platform.
Concerns over safety on Clapper
While Clapper has some amazing benefits, there are also some things to be aware of when using Clapper. While TikTok promotes you locally and is secretive about it, Clapper specifically has a “For You Page” for local Clapper posts. This is not a great thing for people that are trying to remain anonymous about participating in the adult industry. If you do decide to use Clapper, make sure to deny access to location services. Outside of the location feature, Clapper comes with the common concerns of social media apps for adult performers like possibly being seen by people you know, having your content saved and redistributed, etc.
How to become successful on Clapper
Since Clapper is a friendlier clone of TikTok, you can utilize our Guide to Cam Model and Adult Industry Marketing on TikTok to achieve success on Clapper as well. You will need the basics to get views on Clapper that you need for any other video based platform: HD, good lighting, and something that grabs attention.
Why you should NOT have a premium / private Snapchat
Snapchat is not adult friendly according to their Terms of Service which leaves uncertainty when using it as a form of income for adult content, additionally Snapchat can terminate your account without warning and can leave you without the ability to contact customers or potential clients. When establishing a platform where you are providing adult services to a consumer you want to ensure that you are using an adult friendly platform so that you do not risk losing your accounts and your customers. It also makes more sense to use an adult friendly platform that allows on site purchasing to minimize the amount of effort customers put in to purchasing from you and ease the conversion with less leg work, it also provides a great opportunity for upselling.
Snapchat can delete any account for any reason, even if you are only suspected of adult content.
What makes Snapchat a desirable app for pornstars and their customers?
Snapchat has been a desirable app for the use of “premium/private” accounts for a long time and it comes down to a few factors: convenience, user accessibility, the fact that when people see it on someone’s phone they don’t automatically assume it’s porn, disappearing content, the ability to reuse content / save for later, filters, and built in features like messaging and calling. Unfortunately since Snapchat is NOT adult friendly, having a premium or private Snapchat for adult content can be extremely dangerous and put you at risk of losing your account and being permanently banned from Snapchat.
Apps you can use to take cute filtered photos instead of Snapchat
Meitu: Meitu is a photo editing and camera application that allows you take photos with cute filters and graphics very similar to Snapchat but with a greater variety! You can save them straight to your camera roll for use on any fan club or social media platform. You can additionally retouch any photos taken on your camera roll with their editor or retouching tools to get that perfect smooth skin or dewy skin effect that Snapchat provides with their filters.
FaceApp: FaceApp can be used to change your hair style, add makeup, and more! If you’re a big fan of the filters and being able to take photos even when your skin or hair isn’t looking the best due to Snapchats beauty filters, FaceApp can be a great alternative and often looks more natural than many of Snapchats filters.
AVN Stars, adult friendly fan club platform with story feature
AVN Stars is an adult fan club platform run by the highly respected adult industry network responsible for AVN magazine and the AVN Awards. AVN (Adult Video Network) stars can enjoy many of the wonderful features they’ve grown to love through Snapchat but also combine that with the ability to sell clips, accept tips, and more!
Snapchat and AVN Stars similarities:
Story feature for posting live updates
Private messaging (photo, video, or just text)
“Friends only” (subscriber only) or public posts to story
IsMyGirl: Snapchat Alternative, Make Money on Your Hot Pics!
IsMyGirl is a platform that offers a fanclub service where models can receive money from fans who are subscribed to them. There are also various other money making features on the platform that exceed the capabilities of Snapchat. These features include clip sales, private messaging, premium Snapchat subscriptions and live camming. IsMyGirl only pays out 70%, but also does more for traffic than many other fanclub sites. IsMyGirl is geared towards adult performers and does more for organic discovery (search, directory, discovery page) than many other Snapchat alternatives.
JustForFans – Adult Fanclubs, Content Sales and Phone sex
JustForFans was founded by a pornstar, Dominic Ford, and will never take the “mainstream” route other alternatives have taken in order to make a quick buck. The site is dedicated to the sale of pornographic content so you will never need to worry about losing your account! You can utilize JustForFans to profit from your nude photos, videos, and pay to view messages via their private messaging system. It has helpful features that Snapchat does not have, like being able to offer phone sex or individual clip sales to your fans.
FanCentro – Sell Snapchat and Instagram Subscriptions
FanCentro is a platform for selling subscriptions for both Snapchat and Instagram, but you can also utilize their internal subscription feature as a Snapchat alternative. Similar to Snapchat, you can post stories and you can also post to your feed.
TikTok is a popular short video based social media application available on most mobile devices
TikTok has heavily evolved from its older form “Musical.ly” to become the current #2 most popular app within the iTunes Store right under Zoom. With the current impact of Coronavirus keeping most people stuck at home, video based platforms provide an escape from the monotony of isolated life, which has sky-rocketed many video based platforms into the spotlight. Many adult entertainers have been hesitant to utilize TikTok to promote because they believe the application is made for kids, and while the predecessor of TikTok was definitely heavily aimed at kids it has since blossomed into an expansive platform which features videos from multiple community types and walks of life, adult included. In addition, TikTok has very comprehensive parental controls which helps parents to keep their children from coming across explicit or offensive content. The apps built in controls are one of the most comprehensive built in controls on any current social media platform and includes many ways for parents to monitor their kids activities, including putting them into a restricted mode or a connected mode to help parents to monitor their childs watching habits. It may be a bit hard for some performers to get past the fact that there are minors on the platform but the hard reality is that there are minors on nearly every social platform that adult industry workers advertise on, so if you’re on Twitter there is no reason to not be on TikTok! Better yet, TikTok requires Safe-for-Work content, while Twitter does not!
How can I market my adult services on TikTok?
TikTok is a Safe-for-Work application which means no nudity of any kind is allowed, which includes real or implied nudity. If you get too many community guideline infringements, the app will put you in time out for amounts of time before completely banning you. The best way to make sure you can curate a good audience and traffic source on TikTok is to follow their community guidelines as closely as you can.
TikToks Community Guidelines about Adult Content: “We do not allow sexually explicit or gratifying content on TikTok, including animated content of this nature. Sexualized content carries many risks, such as triggering legal penalties in some jurisdictions and causing harm to our users through sharing non-consensual imagery (for example, revenge porn). Also, overtly sexual content can be offensive within certain cultures. We do allow exceptions around nudity and sexually explicit content for educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic purposes. For example, content discussing or showing mastectomy scars is allowed.
Sexual exploitation is any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, power, or trust for sexual purposes, including but not limited to profiting monetarily, socially, or politically from the sexual exploitation of another. Do not post:
Content that depicts, commits, or incites non-consensual sexual acts
Content that commits, promotes, or glorifies sexual solicitation or sexual objectification
Pornography and nudity involving adults
Pornography explicitly depicts sexual organs and/or activities for the purpose of sexual gratification. Do not post:
Content that depicts sexual activities such as penetration, non-penetrative sex, or oral sex
Content that shows human genitalia, female nipples, or buttocks
Content that depicts sexual arousal
Content that depicts a sexual fetish”
After reading their guidelines, you’re probably thinking well what CAN I post? That’s easy! The performers reading this who are already active on a cam site will probably have an easy transition to the “TikTok Style” because much like camming, it’s about mixing sex appeal with having a bomb personality! If you aren’t used to live interaction and mainly stick to clips that are sex-forward, it may be a bit harder of a transition but not impossible! Remember that not all of your posts have to be promotional, and that you can build an audience based on common interests as well and if they follow you and stumble onto your promotions that it still has conversion potential! Additionally it is important to “funnel” your promotions through a Safe-for-Work landing site to help minimize the exposure to minors as well as comply with the TikTok community guidelines. Avoid using keywords that will results in immediate community guideline infringements like: OnlyFans, PornHub, Porn, Nudes, Fetish, any explicit language (ex: Cock, Dick, Tits, Boobs, etc.)
TikTok Algorithm and How to Use it to Your Advantage
TikTok is an algorithm based platform, it will display your content to people with interests in the kind of content you’re producing. While I’m not sure what kind of witchcraft or magic they do to ensure that, I know that it happens and they are very good at it. For example: if you post a twerking video, it will recommend a song about booty, and it will show it to people who like booty. Use this to your advantage and try out “like fishing.” Post a promotional video first, whether it be just talking, saying there is a new release on a platform of yours, or telling a story and directing people to the “funnel link” in your bio, and then post a second video doing some good old fashioned “like fishing.” Shake your butt, dance around, learn the trendy TikTok dances, make a “sexy face,” be a tease (but not too far! You don’t want to get banned) grab some attention with little to no promo involved and post that. It will likely circulate better due to the TikTok algorithm, watch your followers grow and profile visits grow, and along the way many people will also click on your promo video you posted right before. While this is a bit more difficult than simply doing the “like fishing” and promo combined, it helps to limit community guideline infringement (it’s much easier to submit an appeal stating you were “just dancing” when there are no outgoing links or suggestions to visit outside sides) and if you do submit an appeal and it doesn’t go through you can continue to post thirst traps and have your promo video consistently stay up. It will maximize foot traffic to your promo video! The more views it gets = the more likely it is to get recommended to more people = a bigger audience and more money making opportunity longterm.
Use trending songs/audios when you can, when songs and audios trend on TikTok they are more likely to land on the For You Page. This will once again feed into their algorithm and help more people see you. There are sex worker specific sounds on TikTok as well (like put a finger down, sex worker edition!) that you can use for your videos and people will often search these sounds to find sex workers they are interested in following. Whenever you come across a sex worker friendly audio, add it to your favorites!
Create duets with other cam models and porn performers to help increase your audience, viewers love familiar faces and creating “duet” videos with popular performers in sex work will help you to get more views as well as open up the floor to cross promotion. You can also duet your more popular thirst traps in case they get removed to help extend the longevity of their life, even doing a duet with a black screen background saying “this is the best video I’ve ever posted” will bring more attention to it.
Hashtags are fun but not necessary, and most of the “sexy” hashtags are shadowbanned and will get your account hit with a community guidelines strike faster. Long story short, if you’re hopping on a trend or doing a non-sexy thing then feel free to use the hashtags. TikTok loves cosplay, dogs, cats, games, movies, etc. Feel free to use those hashtags, but don’t tag #OnlyFans unless you are feeling self destructive.
What you NEED in your TikTok for it to blow up
The TikTok algorithm usually blesses all with a hundred or so views, but you are more likely to go viral and hit the For You Page if you make sure to have these key factors in your video.
Good Lighting: Whether you’re outside, in your well lit bathroom, or in front of a ring light, TikTok loves well lit videos and is more likely to show your video to more viewers if the content is well lit.
Movement: There is a reason everyone on TikTok dances, it’s because if you’re moving in your video it is generally assumed you’re doing something entertaining or exciting and you are more likely to hit the FYP!
Timing: if you are using audio or music in your video, if your movements line up with tempo and beat it makes your video look better and get more attention.
Show Some Skin: TikTok loves to see almost naked people, or at least the horny TikTok people do, which is who we want to see our videos anyway right? To get put on the For You Page for the horndogs of TikTok, show some skin! Model a swimsuit, show off a cosplay, “bikini hauls,” dance around in a cute little outfit, anything to accentuate your ~scantily clad~ body.
Quality: the less pixelated the better, this is universal across most social media. People like watching people, not pixels. Unless of course, they have a MineCraft kink.
Use Audio EVEN IF You Don’t Use the Audio: You can put a trending song or audio on your video and turn it all the way down, so that even if the point of your video is you talking you can have either ambient background music or no background music at all but it will put you in that audios video library. When viewers like an audio they will go through it to find people doing stuff that they like to it!
Bait: when videos get interacted with they are more likely to land on the FYP. Bait comments and likes by asking people if they like your outfit, hair, song choice, etc!
Track your Success on TikTok
TikTok also allows creator accounts to track their analytics, similarly to the Instagram “business account” set up you are able to see where most of your views came from, how many likes it has, and how many shares. Using these tools you can track what style of videos are most successful for you and result in more conversions to decide what kind of content you should advertise with! You can check the analytics for your individual posts or your account as a whole. Your overall account analytics will give you insight into your video views, followers gained and lost, profile views, which of your videos are “trending” the best, the times your followers are active, the gender of your viewers, and the top territories that view your content. It will also recommend sounds that your followers have been listening to recently to help you determine what sounds you should use in your upcoming videos!
Stretch Your Content Using TikTok
The name of the game in the adult industry is trying to stretch your content as far as it will go, in this case you can use older safe for work content posted to your Instagram, Snapchat, or Twitter to generate new content on TikTok using their upload option. If you already have public social media that is video based (like Snapchat) you can save your posts there after you make them to re-post on TikTok and extend the reach for that specific piece of content.
I don’t have the option to put a link in my bio?
TikTok will automatically give you the option to put a link in your bio around the 2,000 follower mark. Focus on posting good content and getting followers so you can put a clickable link in your bio! In the meantime, you can put a “funnel link” in the written part of your bio and also watermark your videos on TikTok with your funnel link. Make sure your link has no indication of being adult industry related! Good funnel links will lead to sites with no explicit content and will either make the user verify their age or clearly indicate what the site will lead to if they continue to use it. Creating barriers and obstacles to get to the explicit content will discourage minors from finding it. Alternatively you can use a link hosting platform like LinkTree and link to explicit content that is behind a paywall so there is no risk of minors seeing your pornographic content.
Keep building and join the TikTok Creator Marketplace
The TikTok creator marketplace is the official way to monetize your TikTok account by working with brands to collaborate and receive payment for marketing on their behalf. It is generally a good idea as an adult industry working to avoid monetizing your accounts if you are planning to continue promoting your adult products, but if you are heavily funneling and also posting more personalized content that isn’t adult related you can use the boost from your “sexy” posts to reach the requirements to join the marketplace faster. To join the marketplace you need: over 100k followers on TikTok, have posted 3 videos in the past 28 days, received over 100k video likes in the past 28 days, and be at least 18 years old. You will have to apply to join the marketplace so if you do reach that level of fame on TikTok remember that it is not adult friendly and you may be better off not applying for the program or removing the traces of your adult promotions prior to applying to the program.
Should you have a back up account?
As with all non-adult friendly social media, having a back up account is highly encouraged if you have the time to upkeep it. Additionally, you can create an adult account and a personal account and cross promote them by using duets. Whatever you decide to do, if you enjoy using TikTok and if it converts to you then having a back up account can’t hurt. It’s better to be ahead of the curve and plan for a ban rather than be banned and lose all of your followers.
Does TikTok actually convert to sales?
From personal experience, yes it does. I have made over $400 on OnlyFans in less than a week of promoting on TikTok from TikTok alone (my welcome message asks where they found me, useful tip for tracking how useful social media and promotion is for you!) I have also gotten 500 more viewers on my public Snapchat account by funneling my TikTok viewers to my Snapchat account where I promote all of my services. The key to it is to make sure you’re posting content that will get a lot of views if you want crazy good results, I’ve found the key to success for me has been focusing on booty style posts because people love my butt. Find your best asset and post it! Try out trends and see what works.
TikTok viewers seem to lean heavily towards fan club style sites. The most common form of promotion on TikTok for the adult industry right now is models promoting their OnlyFans to potential customers as well as models using it to promote their services to help potential models get started by utilizing referral links to profit from it. OnlyFans is a recognizable name in mainstream media now and has become a trusted way for people to subscribe and support people, and the site has seen a massive uptick in success due to Coronavirus and many people looking to monetize their photo and video content. It is also a fantastic place to promote game streams if you also utilize sites like Twitch. This isn’t to say that you can’t advertise your clips or live cam, because you certainly can! Make sure to funnel to those sites by advertising your other social media (like Twitter) so they can know when to catch you online (and so you can hopefully use a referral link for the site that you’re camming on!)
If you aren’t in love with OnlyFans there are plenty of other adult fanclub sites that you could advertise to your followers!
Is it REALLY worth it to join TikTok? Or will I just get banned like Instagram / Snapchat?
If you break the rules, you will definitely get banned. No doubt. The biggest key to remaining on SFW social media while promoting adult services is to know where “the line” is and not to cross it. Their system seems rather forgiving as well, after about 10 community guideline infringements (of which 3 were actually repealed and reinstated) I was banned from posting for a week but I am still able to comment, like, view, and message. My community guideline infringements that were repealed (I’m sharing so you can learn how to “trick” their appeal system) is submitted an appeal on a video of me and a female friend kissing because I stated that “removing the content was homophobic.” On another video I replied to someone asking where my content is with a screenshot of my PornHub profile in the background (with no nudity or anything) and in my appeal I said “it was an edited screenshot meant to be a joke.” In another I was at a photoshoot in lingerie and I stated “it was behind the scenes at a photoshoot and not meant to be sexually engaging in any way.” If you are smart about what your post and make sure to tie in elements that you can use to defend your content as not violating the guidelines (like wearing a bikini because you’re tanning! Wearing a sports bra because you’re jogging! Shaking your butt because it’s a trending dance!) then you should have no problem with TikTok.
Telegram is an application available on most smart phones that provides the ability to communicate with others individually or in a group chat setting. While it is not a great option for keeping in contact with customers due to the fact it accesses your phone number, it is a great way to keep in contact with other OnlyFans performers looking to do cross promotion. Telegram allows you to put a bio on your profile, which many OnlyFans performers have utilized to include their follower count on their Paid or Free OnlyFans accounts. Many performers have also included a link to their websites to verify their identity, and you can create a post within a “link” tab for easy to use copy and paste content for OnlyFans promotion.
Why are performers using Telegram to keep in contact for OnlyFans promotion?
In my personal opinion, it really makes no sense to use such an invasive app for communication, but I was not on the committee that decided which app all models would gravitate to for promotional purposes. Unfortunately, Twitter was ruled out because of how difficult their system is to save video and photo content and easily copy and paste. Due to the surge in popularity of Telegram, there are already dozens if not hundreds of groups available for promotional purposes for OnlyFans models. The groups range from SFS Groups (Shoutout for Shoutout) to Drop Groups and “Networking Groups.” Most groups have follower minimums so it is important to find a group that suits you or you can risk being booted from the group, and the groups do verify by typically asking for screenshots of your follower count upon joining!
What is a SFS? (Shoutout for Shoutout)
SFS is a very popular way to cross promote, it typically involves providing a short description of yourself as well as a photo or video and the link to your page and the other performer will do the same. The model will typically either do an “Active” SFS which means you both post once the information is exchanged or a “Queued” SFS which is when you agree on a date and time when your profiles won’t be overwhelmed with posts or when your profile gets high traffic and you will both queue the other performers shoutout for the specified time. Typically, performers will set their SFS posts to expire in 1-3 days so that the posts don’t clog their feed. Usually if a model has a higher fan count than the other participating model, they may be asked to keep the post up for a longer time to maximize the exposure of the link.
What is a “Drop?”
Drops are the more stressful part of Telegram, they are typically only active which means you need to be actively participating. Although some groups do support queued drops it is not common. A drop will usually be coordinated by one individual and they will ask Telegram users to post if they are active and would like to participate in the drop, the drop may require a minimum amount of followers so make sure to comply with whichever drop rules were set in the original post which will usually be pinned through the duration of the drop. Once the coordinator confirms there are enough people active and interested in the drop, they will instruct everyone to drop their OnlyFans link. When you do the drop, make sure to ONLY post your link in the proper clickable format, because the coordinator will be copying and pasting your link into the drop post. Typically 4-8 performers will participate in a drop, it is ultimately up to the discretion of the coordinator to pick the total number of participants. Participants over 8 can clutter the timeline and look unappealing, so participating in smaller drops can be beneficial to ensure you aren’t overlooked by customers. The coordinator will notify everyone to “hold” or “wait for captioning” upon reaching the total number of performers, and they will create a “master post” that will be copied and pasted onto all of the participants OnlyFans pages. When you do this, make sure to remove your own link from the list to decrease the amount of generated link previews. Some groups will require a screenshot to prove that you posted the drop to your page and will do a “tally” of all of the performers that participated to make sure no one is getting free exposure without posting the drop. Drops are often set to expire in 1 day.
Many performers don’t post the Telegram publicly because of the personal information hosted within Telegram, but many performers will post to social media stating that they have a Telegram group or that they are part of one and to Direct Message them for the join link. Networking with other performers on social media is the only way to currently find Telegram groups to join to promote your OnlyFans account.
Do I need Telegram to succeed on OnlyFans?
Telegram is not a necessity to succeed on OnlyFans, especially if you already have a generally good amount of organic traffic and are good at converting your traffic to your pay sites. Telegram is great for models that aren’t on sites that allow you to direct your fans off-site (ahem, Streamate.) It is also great for models that are looking to build their accounts, while some models prefer their fan club remain a closer network of their fans, some models have found that utilizing OnlyFans as a way to find new customers and convert them off-site to cam and clips can be beneficial. For those models, Telegram can be a huge help. Telegram is also great for promoting a Free OnlyFans account and opening yourself up to a market of new customers that might not find you otherwise.
More Information On OnlyFans
Interested in becoming an OnlyFans influencer? You can either signup here or learn more about the platform by checking out the link below. OnlyFans is a high-percentage platform for running a fanclub. OnlyFans builds a residual income through the monthly rebills. The more subscribers you have, the more you earn!
Instagram Models can make a profit from photos they would normally post to Instagram
Many Instagram Models take multiple photos when attempting to capture the perfect shot for Instagram, which can result in having anywhere from 10-20 photos that “don’t make the cut.” While they may not make the cut for your public Instagram page where you are posting the perfect shot to rack up followers, you can post these near-misses as well as behind the scenes photos and videos to fan club platforms in order to monetize your most loyal followers.
What should Instagram Models post to Fan Clubs to get fans?
There is a misconception about fan clubs that models have to post nude photos in order to succeed, and that is simply not true. Many loyal fans and followers will subscribe to see more behind the scenes of a models real life, “lewd” sexy photos which aren’t nudes but are sexual in nature, cute outfit photosets, extended video since Instagram has a maximum time limit, short work out videos, inspirational videos, outfit try-ons, bikini photos, and more! You can utilize a fan club for nearly any purpose and if you have a fan base that is interested in you and “your brand” you will likely be successful in building a paying audience through a fan club.
How should I promote my fan club?
The best way to promote your fan club is to put the link in your Instagram bio. Instagram does ban some accounts if they are suspected for promoting “adult links” so buying a vanity URL that is on brand for you that redirects to your fan club is a good way to avoid problems and also increase the memorability of your fan club URL. You can also run your own website and link that, and have the link to your fan club easily accessible on your website. Have your own website is a great way to increase your brand recognition.
How do I prevent fans from sharing my fan club photos?
A concern for many models that open fan clubs is how they can prevent the photos from being shared on social media for free, you can prevent your photos and videos from being shared easily by making sure to watermark your photos and videos. If you acquire a lot of fans, watermarks may not always keep the photos and videos from being shared, and it may be time to look into DMCA services.
Our recommended fan club platform for Instagram Models
We highly recommend OnlyFans as the platform for Instagram Models to use to monetize their content. The layout is very similar to Twitter and very easy for your fans to navigate. It also has great tools for scheduling content, offering promotional discounts, free trial links, and a back-end interface that allows you to see how your income is scaling month by month. When it comes to posting photos on social media, the first thing you should think about is the kind of content that you are posting and how that conveys your brand. For example, a model who posts a selfie with a headset on and controller in her hand will draw in customers who like “gamer girls.” Does this model know that she is attracting that kind of viewer, and is that the kind of viewer that she wants? That’s a very general example, because I’m sure any model wouldn’t mind that type of audience, but now think a little bit deeper into it.
If that same model posted a photo in her “I Voted” sticker, it may draw some of her customers to engage with her in political discussion, which depending on her political views and the potential customers political views could end either very well or very negatively. My main point here is: stay on brand! Anything you post is up to interpretation and discussion by the viewer. You can easily decide what “kind of model” you are by what you decide to post, and limiting personal posts can open up your brand to more general acceptance and customer traffic.
Quality of Photos Being Shared
Next in our photo tips is the quality, and what customers will assume based on it. Constantly posting photos that are poor quality will lead customers to think that any custom content or photosets they purchase will be in the same quality. The quality you sell in should be the quality that you’re advertising in. Posting only “duds” to social media can sometimes creative a negative idea in the potential customers minds that you don’t care about how you appear to others and that your content isn’t worth buying. While you obviously shouldn’t be giving away anything for free that is worth buying, you can creatively avoid that while advertising your good quality content still through censoring, watermarking, taking SFW versions of the photos, etc.
The layout of your photos is a very important factor in advertising as well (specifically on Twitter.) The way that Twitter sorts your photos when you post them can sometime focus in on things that aren’t meant to be the primary focus of the photo. When it comes to posting photos the most eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing ways are to post one photo in landscape, two photos in portrait, or one photo in portrait and two in landscape. When organized in that way specifically, it is more visually appealing, and will not awkwardly crop the photos.
Adding Text / Messages To Photos
Marketing messages directly on the photos can also be very eye-catching, but many models make the mistake of putting all of the writing over their photos rather than as a caption/description. Words that are on top of photos are harder to read, and if you don’t contrast colors correctly it can be sore on the eyes. The best way to market your deals with photos is to put most of the deal within the caption, or create a separate graphic that isn’t cluttered to advertise it. (For example: on Twitter, pair a portrait style selfie with a portrait style graphic with the background the same color as your shirt in the selfie, and the writing in a contrasting color.) Even if you create a separate graphic for your marketing, you should still put the main points within the caption (especially website links so they will be clickable.)
Sharing Photos Vs GIFs
A lot of people assume that with photo marketing that it only has to be still photos, but with GIFs you can still promote the best parts of videos without giving away some of the things that video previews can (sound, mostly.) GIFs are a great eye-catching way to market videos, and can usually be easily created within your video editor or by using GIF creating websites like ezgif.com!
Kik For Camgirls / Pornstars: Promotion and Monetization
Many models would like the ability to “text” with customers, but do not want to bother with phone numbers and the potential of dealing with personal information being leaked. Most of the modern platforms that models do offer subscriptions for (like, Snapchat for example) also rely on photo messaging which leads a lot of customers/clients asking for “more than they paid for” in terms of messaging. That is where Kik comes in handy!
Getting Started With Kik: Information And Signup
Kik is a messaging application you download to your phone, where you can create a profile including a username and photo. Once you do this you are able to message with customers from a safe and easy platform rather than giving out your phone number or other contact information. You can use either an email address or phone number to create your Kik account. Kik can be used to message individually, but another great feature is group messaging.
Kik was built to imitate the sensation of texting, so many of the features fall in line with current texting standards. There is live typing, so you can tell when the other party is responding. Notifications, so you are able to actively keep a conversation going. Kik has even kept making strides to stay relevant by introducing a video chat feature similar to FaceTime.
Dommes: Using Kik For Submissives / Slave Tasks
Many Dommes use Kik for managing submissives. Because Kik has a group messaging tool, it’s real convenient for giving out daily slave tasks to submissives. Kik can also be used to keep up with their submissives all in one easy to access group. It is also commonly used for group sessions where multiple Dommes session with one submissive.
Sending Photos / Videos During Sexting Sessions
You can also send photo and video through the Kik platform, which makes it a great sexting option. Many customers interested in sexting sessions enjoy multimedia content, and models can charge more for including multimedia. You can also send GIFs and Emoji’s, so feel free to be creative in your messaging!
Kik Privacy Issues
Kik does have the ability to access your contacts, make sure when you are setting your account up that you do not allow access to your contacts. If you do, it will suggest you to the people in your contacts. Make sure to set up Kik with your email and not your phone number, to decrease the chances of being discovered by your offline friends!
Make Money Off Kik Subscriptions / Texting Sessions
Selling Kik is very similar to selling access to most social media apps, if you’re familiar with selling premium Snapchat, you’ll realize the process is very similar! Most sites that allow you to sell access to Snapchat will also support the ability to sell access to Kik, you can also usually use the “sell texting” options and have the user message you for your username after purchase.
How To Charge For Kik Sessions
Membershyp: Network Specializing In Kik Subscriptions
If you’re looking for a network specializing in Kik subscriptions, check out Membershyp. Membershyp is a platform that allows adult performers to make money selling social media subscriptions. Kik is one of the networks they support. In addition to Kik, also monetize Snapchat, Instagram and Whatsapp subscriptions. Membershyp also has a directory that will get you increased exposure.
It’s also possible to sell Kik subscriptions and access through the clip sites or camming sites. The clip sites with custom store items are the easiest. Simply create a store item for either a Kik session or a Kik subscription. It’s possible to sell lifetime access or duration-based packages.
For the camming sites, token-based sites work a lot better for this, due to the way they’re setup. Have a customer tip a certain amount with a note that it’s for Kik access. Alternatively, if the camming site allows content sales, it’s possible to upload instructions on how to get added on Kik as a piece of content. Simply set the number of tokens you want to sell it for and it’ll be featured on your camming profile.
Make Sure You Camming Site Allows it: It’s important to make sure that you’re camming site allows this. There are some sites that don’t like models promoting any form of outside web properties, including social media! If you’re camming on one of these sites, do not use it to sell Kik sessions! You do not want your account banned!
Twitter: FOSTA, Shadow-Bans, Switter and Adult Advertising
There has recently been a lot of commotion in the community in regards to FOSTA/SESTA and how they will impact the ability of cam girls to advertise. It has been speculated the all social media will become even more anti-adult, and many are worried about what may happen to their Twitter accounts. Since Twitter has already began shadow banning models, it is definitely feasible to believe that they could ban adult posts entirely, which is very disappointing considering Twitter has always been the “safe social media” where adult performers could post pretty much anything they wanted to. So what can you do if you’re worried about losing your Twitter down the line?
Switter: The Sex-Worker Twitter Alternative
First of all, there is a new alternative to Twitter that was made for sex workers called Switter. It is new and was intentionally made due to the changes that were being caused by FOSTA/SESTA. This is their welcome page information:
“Welcome to Switter! A sex work-friendly social space. In light of the FOSTA/SESTA bill and the recent shadow-banning of our accounts, we’ve decided to take social into our own hands. This is an open and free community and your space to release new shoots, announce tour dates and whatever else you’d like to do!”
Switter is performing very well in the cam model community as well as within other adult communities (escorts, pornstars, etc.) Clients have been moving towards the app as well. Obviously Switter is not currently at the volume that Twitter is at, so if you’re not quite ready to let go of your Twitter here are some tips for that:
Using Twitter While Shadow-Banned
You can continue to use your Twitter shadow banned, but it is kind of counteractive to the purpose of what Twitter is in the adult community, which is a form of out reach to current and potential customers. Now, the potential part is where it gets hard, because the only way to get potential customers if you are shadow banned is through retweets, which will then target the followers of whoever retweets you. The problem with this is we get stuck in a constant loop of retweeting to accounts which are shadow banned. While the adult community is very large, you would have better luck reaching a larger base if you were not shadow banned or if the people retweeting you aren’t shadow banned.
There are two ways to get around this problem: you can get yourself un-shadow banned, or you can post more relatable content that will reach a larger group of people because it is being retweeted by groups which aren’t shadow banned.
Check Out How Lydia Markets Through Twitter
If you’d like to target larger groups of people, a good example of how to do that would be to check out @generichoe on Twitter. Lydia (@generichoe) manages her Twitter very well and continues to grow at a consistent rate because of her relate-ability, if you check out some of her posts you will see that while she does advertise her various platforms of sex work, she also posts and retweets memes, “calls out” people (which engages more people to interact with her profile) and also posts personal stories/tweets that are sometimes comedic. She has managed to combine comedy, real life, and adult into one account so although she is shadow banned she still gets a good amount of followers who are also popular accounts that retweet her but they are not sex workers themselves. It is very hard to work around being shadow banned, but Lydia proves that it is possible!
If you’d like to keep your account strictly adult/advertisement related and aren’t very funny, there are other ways to get more traffic to your page. I personally did it myself, and it’s actually pretty easy to accomplish. You can do it yourself (but it’ll take a while) or you can use a website to do it for you, but you’re going to want to basically wipe your Twitter clean. Delete all tweets/replies/media. I used TweetDeleter.com and paid the membership fee to do it one time then cancelled my membership after, if you become un-shadow banned it is a worth while investment.
If you use a website it’ll take a day or two depending on how much you tweet, I had over 15,000 tweets and it took me a full day. Make sure to go through and save any photos you’ve posted that you want to hold on to, because everything will no longer be accessible once you go through with your tweet cleanse. Once you do that, you’re going to want to make sure all of your auto-tweeting sites are turned off unless it is a site that does not use hashtags.
Automated Hashtag Tweets – Major Cause Of Shadow Bans!
A huge offender of getting accounts shadow banned is the #MVSales hashtag, which if you search on Twitter you will find barely any tweets (unless it’s people you follow) so make sure your MV promo blaster is off. If you will miss the exposure from the promotion, you can create your own censored previews/photos and every time you make a sale tweet out the preview and link to the video without hashtags. It is more work, but it’ll also make sure you don’t get shadow banned. Another key to not getting shadow banned is not posting nudes. It sucks, but think… one day if Twitter becomes all non-nude everyone will actually have to start paying and value nudity again! This could be a step in a good direction (besides the obvious flaws, let’s try to look at the positives!)
Doing This Got My Shadow Ban Lifted!
After doing a full cleanse of my Twitter account and only posting SFW images, and making sure all my auto-tweets were off, it took about 2 weeks for my account to return to normal. I still follow and associate with shadow banned members of the community and it doesn’t seem to effect my account. I’m officially not shadow banned, yay! You will notice that your interactions will start to go back up again.
How To Check If You’re Shadow Banned
Not sure if you’re shadow banned? Head over to Twitter (not signed in) and search your username, if you don’t automatically pop up as an option to click, you’re probably shadow banned. You can also use Nicebrain’s Shadow Ban Checker.
